+ Joining INstructions

BCS warmly welcomes new members of all voice parts. We do not hold auditions to join the choir, but we do ask that you can sing in tune and have some knowledge of reading music. You may not have sung in a choir since leaving school or college, but we are a friendly bunch and will do everything we can to make you feel at ease.

Just come along to rehearsals on Monday evenings at the Marlborough Road Methodist Church. Let us know that you are coming by emailing us via the website so that we know to expect you. Rehearsals start at 7.30pm, but we ask that you arrive 15 - 20 minutes before the start of rehearsal so that you can register and sort out copies of music. We hire out music to members so there is no need to purchase your own copy. When the choir returns after the summer break we welcome everyone back with refreshments prior to rehearsal starting at 7.30pm. It gives everyone the chance to catch up on news.

Subscriptions for the 2019/20 year will be payable either in a single sum of £130 due September 2018 or by monthly standing order of £12 per month (equivalent to £144 per year). If a member wishes to pay by standing order, they will need to set one up with their bank ensuring that their name is given as the description so the Treasurer can identify the payments received.

BCS rehearses at the Marlborough Road Methodist Church on Monday evenings during term time. We rehearse in the main hall of the church. Please use the side door to the church unless otherwise directed. Rehearsals start at 7.30pm prompt and we ask that members arrive 15 - 20 minutes before the start in order to register and sort out their music. Arriving a little earlier also means that you have time to chat with other members.

Members are given a name badge so that it is easier to identify one another. We would ask that you wear this for every rehearsal. The choir is growing at such a rate that it is difficult to remember everyone's names without these name badges!

Parking is very limited at the venue and you can use the car parks close by to the church in Calthorpe Street.

Social coffee evenings take place at 7pm on the first Monday of every month unless otherwise advised or the choir is taking its term break.

It is a great chance for members to catch up with one another and for new members to be welcomed into the choir. If anyone is interested in helping serve coffee and wash up please see one of the committee members at rehearsal. Rehearsals follow at 7.30pm as usual.
